1-Persepolis- I think that when marjanes life was going through a rough period her parents was the one who helped her in life and with her problems. Even though they were not with her through out the whole story but I remember a few times she would think of her parents when she had a problem and what they would say. I would consider them to bee her heroes because they raised her right and taught her right. Plus close to the end her parents help her straighten her life out. Her parents sent her money, they got her a place, they gave her emotional and physical support, they taught her how to survive in the world. When marj had a problem she would think about what her parents taught her and all the things they have done for her and it actually helps her out.

2-Hotel Rwanda-In this story I consider paul to be the hero in this story because of all the things he did for his people. At the beginning of the story paul seemed like he only cared about his family and at the end he started to care about all his people. He spent a lot of money trying to save his people and get them to safety. Even when his family got on to the truck to get to safety, he did not leave with them because he could not let his people die. He was a hutu but he was helping the tutsi. He did a lot for them. At the end he succeeded because he, his family, and his people all get to safety.

3-Swing kids- In this movie I thought that peter was the hero in this story because he influenced a lot of people in the end. At the end while he was getting hauled away to his death he was not scared but he was happy. All the people saw it and decided that they would fight for what they believed in and would not let the Nazis get in the way. He gave up his friend to continue being a swing kid. He got beat up for it and he got harassed for it but he didn’t care because he wanted to be a swing kid and that motivated a lot of people to rebel against the Nazis and swing.

A. Overcoming adversity and challenges
In the movie hotel Rwanda the charter Paul over came challenges when he had to make the employs work when they refused what happened was the employs wouldn’t work because the boss left to the United States. He got them to work by getting the letter from the boss over the phone and had him fax it to them that’s how he made them work,
Another was when the army came to his house and took everybody out of the house and he had to take them to get something. The army found out the people were tutsie and they don’t like the tutsie so he had to find a way to keep them from killing them so he paid the army off. That is how overcame that challenge.
The biggest challenge was staying calm with all the killing and other things he stayed calm and didn’t panic he did that by focusing on his job and his family.

b. Tolerance
In the movie hotel Rwanda Paul had to tolerate the UN saying you are nothing but dirt and we should not help you because you are black and he had to tolerate and he stayed calm.
He had to tolerate the workers that didn’t listen to him and he had to embaressed himself to get them to work and he was embaressed by calling the boss in the states and asking to Wright a letter to the workers saying you need to work.
The un personal had to tolerate the Hutus and the tutsis even when the Hutus killed a un personal the general had to tolerate not shooting them and the orders he got he had to tolerate because the orders were not to help them.

c. Heroes
The UN was Paul’s heroes because the general stayed there to help even when he was not supposed to and because he was brave and nice to him even though Paul was a Hutu.
The neighbors of Paul. Paul was there heroes because he helped them and he was a Hutu but he didn’t care he went out of his way to help the people
Another heroes to Paul was the camra man from the untied states because he went out of the safe zone to get some footage and he risked his life for it and he forced his boss to watch it and to put it on the TV.

Overcoming Adversity and Challenges

In the book, Persepolis, there were a lot of examples about overcoming adversity and challenges. The book takes place in Iran in the late 1990’s. Marji had grown up with her family in hard times with the wars that were going on in there country. When things had gotten bad enough her parents had decided to send her Europe so that she would be safe. She had to overcome living on her own in a completely different country. Marji learned to take care of herself and learn things on her own without her parents being there with her. When she had decided to go back to live in Iran, she was 19. While she lived there she had to overcome more wars and her newly married life. Her husband and her finally had gotten a divorce. Now, mostly everyone can somewhat relate to that.

Hotel Rwanda is a little hard to watch because of the things that the people go through. It took place somewhere in Africa. Paul, the manager of the hotel, has to deal with a lot of stuff. In the beginning he seems to only want to take care of his family. It took place in the early 1990’s and yet is still happening today. Paul took very good care of his family and his business. He was a Hutu, yet his wife and kids were Tutsi. The Hutu were the ones “in charge” or so they thought. So the Tutsi people were always scared and being horribly treated by most of the Hutu people. Paul soon realizes at the end of the movie that he can take care of his family, being everyone not just his wife and children. He sends his wife and kids to somewhere else so that they can be safe although he stays behind to help all of the Tutsi people that are staying at the hotel for safety. He overcame the challenge of people trying to kill him for helping the other people and also for living in that kind of situation. He was a hero to so many people.

The Nazi people are hard people to watch. They had done so many horrible things to innocent people. They believed in certain things and everyone else in the country had to suffer. Swing Kids is a movie that had a lot of meaning to the word ‘freedom’. Nobody really had any. This took place in 1939. Not being part of the HJ was a little like putting disrespect to the Nazi’s. The kids in the HJ beat everyone who was different. Peter and his friend Thomas had to join the HJ so that they didn’t get into anymore trouble. They had decided to be swing kids by night and HJ kids by day. Yet, Thomas had transferred into thinking that what he was being taught at the HJ was right and betrayed Peter at the end of the movie. They had a handicapped friend, Arvid, who was treated horribly because he was handicapped. He ended up committing suicide because he was so overwhelmed with the torture the HJ put him through and because his “friend” turned his back. Thomas had kept his head on straight and overcame the challenge of being both a swing kid and part of the HJ. He was taken away and still had a smile on his face because he knew what he did was right and he was proud of it. He overcame living with all the things he had gone through with his country, friends, family, and himself.

My thoughts about this novel were good because I liked the book.
It was very interesting and I kept wanting to read more.
I liked the way the book talked about a teenager growing up.
I did not really like it when they started talking about the war or when they would talk about politics because it sounded so boring.
I would definitely recommend this book to another person.
I think the meaning of this book was to let us know what is really going on in the world.
I like it how it kind of relates to my life like the use of drugs and depression and family problems.
I like it how she comes up even though she is living rough and hard.
I like the way it showed us how it was in iran.

Brainwashing a thing the government knows all to well. Just ask any one. If there smart they well tell you the truth. But if there stupid or ignorant they well say the government is here to help you. Like 9-11, I’ll put money on it the government hade a little something to do with it. I don’t think it is as black and white as every one makes it. I how we blame Muslims for every thing, but we are just as much the blame as them.

Billy
We have been talking an in immense detail about adversity and challenges by reading books like perspolis and fahrient 451. These novels are about people going threw adversity because the government is ignorant or plain punitive about change. Along with antagonists comes protagonists to fight for something they truly believe in.

Challenges are that people try to subjugate for the better. Just like marji and her family is trying to do by demonstrating against the government of Iran. Including montag living in a society were books are illegal and he soon finds out that book have the signifiance of knowledge and have more meaning than people assume.
It is inenvitable to inquire challenges all threw life, its not how painful it can be important, but how you conduct yourself through out the life lesson.

Today has been a good day. The only problem that I had was I got a three in bens class because I was passing notes to Danielle. I have been working really hard on keeping my grades up and it is actually working. I got like a little over two weeks before my court date and I got to have everything looking good for the judge. I am hoping to finally be able to go home so I can be with my family. I want to show the judge that I can be successful and actually do good in my community . I want to get back with m family so I can be there for my little girl . I don’t want to miss anymore time of her life. I also want to be there for my family and so I don’t have to wait till Sunday to talk to my mom. If I was home right now than everything would be going really good right now. I can only hope right now that it goes good in court. I hope she is in a good mood.

So I just got out of girls group and ti was a lot to do with drama and anger issues. Haha . Going to this school you can’t really get away from the drama because the school is so small. Everyone in this school has done something to get them here. Either it is something that they did or something someone else couldn’t do. But, everyone has there own issues and there own problems. It makes me laugh a little when people complain about their problems like it is the end of the world. Summit High School is kind of like a program. But it is a good high school that helps you. Although I have done my fair share of trouble I still think about all of the things that I have been through. It is not fun to go back into your past esspecially when you don’t want to. I’ve tried to keep tyo myself this past year so that I wouldn’t get into trouble anymore. For some reason when I hang around a lot of people I get back into my old ways a little bit, and that scares me.

Kelsee
This week I will tell you about all my mottos that I like. I will start off with the motto I came up with when I was in a program its work it because you want to not because you have to because when you work it because you have to it wont turn out the way you wanted it to. Sorry time is up so I cant tell you the rest of them.

Trial in my life

In my life I have been through all kinds of trials. The most recent is when I got caught driving when I was not supposed to. I got charged with joyriding speeding 91 in a 65 driving on a denied license and failure to stop for an emergency vehicle. I went to court and got two of the four charges dropped. It took along time but I did it. I went to court for four weeks every Thursday at 9:00am in Farmington but it was worth it because now I don’t have to spend a year in jail. I only have to do one-year probation and pay a fine. I have many trials I just don’t want to talk about them any more. When I talk about my past I get excited and want to go and do it again. But I don’t want that so its better if I just leave it alone and let things be as they are and live my life.

Zack
If you are going through hell keep going
I think the guy that is saying this he means. Don’t give up keep trying because if you are going through hell then you are doing good because it goes bad before it goes good so if you keep going that if will get better but it will take time before it starts getting better.

Would you change you life if you could. I wouldn’t because it would not make me who I am. Every the bad things because know I can look back and say at lest I'm not living that again. That makes me feel better. Do you live you life on the edge or do you live it straight. Like if you came to a fork in the road and you was in the hills on road was fun and safe and you knew were it went. But the other road was winedy and dangerous and you don’t know were it goes or what will happen. What one would you take? I would take the dangerous road. Do you use four-wheel drive to get you out of trouble or do you use it to get into trouble. I use it to get into trouble because if you don’t push it then you don’t know were the point of brake is. How far do you push a truck in the hills. I push my truck tell it stops or tell it rolls I don’t stop because if I don’t then I don’t know how fare I dare to go.

This is how people live their lives so do you think about how you live yours?

I think that challenges are some what good because it helps us experience life and it gets us prepared for even bigger challenges. Like right now my challenge right now is to get out of the system. I have been in the system for like almost three years until the judge finally sent me here. To get out of here I need to do good in school and I need to follow all of the rules in my program and I need to pass all of my drug tests. This whole experience is teaching me to take life more seriously and to realize that all of my actions affect not only me but a lot of people. You can be strong and overcome the challenges that life throws at you or you can be weak and let it overcome you. The weak ones who let the challenges overcome them are the ones who are poor or are the ones that are getting addicted to drugs. The strong ones are the ones who finish school and who lead a good life. The strong ones are able two walk away from peer pressure or are the ones who do there work in class. The weak ones are the ones who are always talking in class and who don’t really care for there school work.

Zack J.
One of the challenges I have to still over come is being in foster care. My parents never want to talk to me unless they want to balme something on me like they don’t have enough money, or I made the family fall apart. I think it’s harder for me to want to see them because I think it’s unfair for them to put it on the kid when its really not there fault. I think that if they want to put the blame on someone it should be them because they were the ones that couldn’t take care of me in the first place. I think that its gotta be just as hard on my parents as it is on me. Well I guess the plus side is I get to spend all Saturday with my real parents. Except the only way I get to go over there is to clean all the house that I don’t even live in.

Jess
If your going though hell keep going
That is how I feel about over coming adversity and challenges. So sit down and tell the kid sitting next to you to shut up. Because I’m going to tell you some stuff I’ve overcome like guitar. When I first got here I did not know how to play anything. But know I know how to play hurt by Johnny Cash. Redemption Song by Bob Marley. And some other stuff. And I also want to over come school for so long I did not go to school but know I wont to graduate. And do something with my life. I don’t wont to be a drug dealer when I’m older. As fun as that sounds or I could be a successful drug dealer ha ha ha just kidding or am I but no I don’t wont t be a drug dealer. Were was I o yea adversity and challenges Any who if you set your mind to some thing you cold do any thing you wont to Ha ha mat that’s 12 lines

Billy
I personally believe adversity is a key factor in life to really see some ones real colors or some people’s true intentions. Adversity and challenges all threw life is evitable but I honestly think after everything is said and done, how somebody’s composure is still in place.
Adversity relates to anyone who had a very difficult time in time in his or her life. Others have challenges that are remarkably unbelievable in which death is a better option to have.

Ceasar
Today was an alright day because I was not tired all day and I think that I got all of my work done today. I get to spend my money today with my tracker because I just got my work paycheck . I think that I lost my shirt today, the summit high school shirt. They gave it to us this morning so that all of the kids in the school would actually where them. I only wore mine this morning but I took it off and that’s when I lost it. I am happy now because we don’t really have to do any work in class today besides this blogg. I got one more month until my court date and I cant wait until than. I know that my court date will go all good. All I need to do is do good in school and keep my grades up. I also need to find another job because I think that I lost this one because there was too many people working. I think that it sucks really bad because I had a home visit on the eighteenth and if I don’t have a job that I wont be able to go. So right now I am on a hunt for a job. I tried turning in a few applications but I haven’t had any luck yet.

Zack
My new life
So I have been in this new home for two weeks today. It has been ok so far,
I really wish I was still there. I don’t really fit in they are more high class and all they do is lay around. I really am starting to miss being home even if it wasn’t perfect. I guess it hits you in the butt how good life is when you live at home.

Jess
Prom it was cool I’m glad I decided to go because I had fun. That was the first time I have went to prom. I’ve had chances to go to others but I always went and got drunk instead. Everybody looked good at prom and a lot more people came then I thought there was going to be. I just wish I wasn’t in Procter care for it. I wish I could have wired my baby blue suit but it had a hole in it and I didn’t now it tell it was too late. But it was kind of different that they had games. They didn’t that many good songs slum were good but not all. The supervision were cool and mostly all of them dressed up for it and danced too and I thought that was cool that they started to dance and stuff with us.

Josh
When I was little I used to dream about life when I was older. Now that I am older I am thinking about being younger. I thought about what I would be and how I would get there. Getting married and all of that good stuff. I thought everything would work out as I thought when I was little. As I got older I started to think clearer and know that not everything would happen the way I wanted to. Now that I am 18 years old I am getting a wake up call. Having to pay things I knew I would have to pay but not as soon as it came. It seems like life goes by faster then we think. As time goes by we think it is slow but as we look back we wonder where all of the time went. This year hasn’t been my favorite yet as I look in the past it seems as if it has gone by so quickly. Not noticing how much things go on that we don’t realize. Making friends that have stuck with you for as long as you can remember; the laughs and the crying. It all makes memories that stay with everyone no matter who you are. As time goes on you will not realize how fast life is passing you by if you are noticing every moment like it is your last.
