The day we left is the day I will always remember. Everyone is crying and hugging. My dad and my brother are packing up the motor home. My sisters upstairs not wanting to come outside. My mom is giving us a last hug good bye before we go on our way. My dad starts the motor home and we start our way to the desert.
The day started to become the night. All we thought about the whole ride was leaving our mom. We arrived at my dads parents house around dinnertime or so. They were kind enough to let my dad, brother and I stay with them until my dad found us a house to stay in. My grandparents watched us while my dad worked for weeks at a time. They enrolled my brother and I in school and got us started with everything that we needed to do.
My brother and I got to visit our mom in Riverside every other weekend. My dad lived about two hours away so they both would drive half way. We would always meet at the chicken house and have lunch before my mom would drive us to her house. Each time we were able to see her it made the week so much better. I looked forward to those weekends a lot. During the week, I would think of things I would be able to do with my mom so that we got the best out of each visit.
After a couple of years after the split made dad had made a decision. He wanted to move to Utah with his new girlfriend. We weren’t allowed to see our mom as much because it was to far for us to go. So we tried to call her all of the time. After we moved I started getting into a lot more trouble and having even more problems. I only have gotten to see my mom about three times and I’ve lived in Utah about five years. But I call her as much as I can to see how everything is.
